Drawing has been my lifelong companion and the foundation of my Figurative and Portraiture oil painting. My procedure is simple: I quickly capture the likeness, rhythm and vitality of the subject; the painting process follows to create an atmosphere for the composition. The palette I use tends to be primary colors in high key applied in a pure, flat style. My art is created in a semi-photo-realist manner with a dash of pop art. I love faces, and often choose to paint people who convey attitude, sometimes eccentricity. Recreating what I see - to glorify the authentic person in a particular moment in time - gives me enormous joy. If the viewer becomes engaged, that's a bonus.
