My still life paintings are a visual diary of familiar things from daily life ... things we use, things we admire and treasure, and often times things we rarely take the time to really 'see'. My labor and joy is to translate the ordinary into poetic compositions which capture heir unique beauty. The fluidity of oil paint and the versatility of the medium allows me to approach each subject differently. Some paintings are alla prima, painted in one or two sittings, while others are under painted and glazed with color in stages. Each technique offers endless opportunities to explore the effects of casting light on a composition that is 'breathing' the same space. I'm always searching for unique ways to capture and convey the beauty that surrounds us and helps us live our lives more intuitively.
