Artist Statement

My technical training in watercolor began when I studied interior design at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh many lifetimes ago.  Fast forwarding, I started painting watercolors as a means of expressing my experiences while cruising the Mediterranean with my husband aboard our cutter, Spirit of Life.   Now I am firmly installed in my studio in Ponte Vedra Beach South, painting watercolors for the sheer joy of what can happen!  (I do get a little help from Lucy and Leo, the family felines.)

I have no one, dominant style, but paint the mood of my subject as it moves my spirit.  I strive to paint “feeling”. . . in a formal portrait in which the eyes say it all to an  abstract interpretation of the mysticism of a temple.  No matter the subject, watercolor is the perfect medium for me to explore and express the essence of what we all can see or imagine.  With watercolor, it is possible to achieve an almost infinite range of effects and watercolor inevitably interjects its own unique surprises into this artist’s vision.  What fun!

I invite you to see through my painting into the mystery that lies within.
