I’ve taken inspiration from Wallstreet Journal’s monthly magazine to create this blog post. Every month, WSJ features a new celebrity and fun facts about their smartphones. Today, I am writing about Barbara “Babs” Colaciello, her smartphone, and how her son has helped her keep up with the times.

What kind of phone do you have?

I have a new iPhone 10. I had an 8 but I dropped it from a balcony at a concert. It still worked but it was time for a new one. It is a mystery to me that my flashlight goes on. It keeps taking screenshots. I don’t know why.

What does your case look like?

Red. I like red. If I can do a color, I’ll do a color.

How many unopened voicemails do you have?

None. I listen to all of my voicemails. I like talking on the phone.

Home screen image?

Image of a broom I took in India.

What app do you use the most?

Podcasts. The Reveal with host Al Letson.

Fun Fact: I thought “lol” meant “lots of love”, my son told me what it really means. It takes a lot to get me to “lol”.

Fave apps?

Activity app ( I had open heart surgery), Uber when traveling

Biggest time-wasting app?

First app checked in the morning?

Last person you spoke to on the phone and how long?

My son Luke who lives in Colorado. He shocked his computer and it died. Lasted 4 minutes. That was a short one.

Most used app?

Nest. I’m using it all the time. I take care of my mother and I know everything she is doing.

Uptown Funk.
