Pentecost

May 28

Worship with us on Pentecost Sunday!

Pentecost is a moveable feast, in which we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples of Jesus after his Ascension. All are encouraged to wear bright colors of reds, oranges, or yellows, symbolizing the flame of the Holy Spirit. We have a couple of special events planned for the day:

Cake Contest

Dining Room, Westbury Hall
9:45 – 10:45 a.m.
All ages are invited to make a Pentecost themed cake or dessert to celebrate the birthday of the church. Symbols of Pentecost include the dove and flames of fire, be creative! Drop off your cakes by 9:45 a.m. in the dining hall. They will be judged in secret, the winning entries will be announced and the cakes cut and served around 10:30. To sign up to bring a cake contact Jen DeRyker. The more desserts the better!

Bilingual Service
11:15 a.m.
Church Main Sanctuary
“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability”. (Acts 2:4) Our choir, musicians and clergy have designed a beautiful bilingual liturgy for us to celebrate and worship together on Pentecost. Join us for this spiritual feast of the Spirit with music, preaching, and the breaking of bread in a multicultural and joyful celebration of our faith. This service combines the congregations of the 11:15 Traditional, Jordan and 12:45 Spanish Language service.

The service will be followed by a potluck lunch in the Parish Hall. You are invited to bring a favorite dish to share.
