Saturday, January 14, 9 am-2 pm
This Facing Racism workshop explores the years following the Civil War as the nation struggled to rebuild in the face of profound destruction and revolutionary social change. It is one of the most overlooked and misunderstood periods of American history. PBS historical video featuring Henry Louis Gates will be woven together with illustrative commentary by Dr. Rudy Jamison, Director of UNF’s Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnic Relations. Q&A, discussion and small group interaction will offer opportunity to engage and better understand this history. Advance registration is required. The $15 registration fee includes Friday evening dessert, Saturday continental breakfast and lunch.
