Day 6
San Francisco de Asís Mission Church
Watercolor Artist: Mary-Blue Ster
As a child I lived in border towns in New Mexico and Texas. I have always loved the high desert and the beautiful adobe buildings.
Recently my husband, John, and I were in Taos New Mexico. We visited San Francisco de Asís Mission church. This beautiful church is over 200 years old And is made of adobe.
It was the center of a small Mexican and Native American community. We could not go inside because of COVID-19, so we sat on a bench and admired this beautiful structure. It was a very spiritual and meditative experience. I was inspired to paint a watercolor of it. I am in good company as Georgia O’Keeffe painted it and Ansel Adams photographed it.
