The Youth Forum
Faith formation is a lifelong process, as we individually and corporately seek to come nearer to God in prayer, study, service, and fellowship. At Christ Church, we strive to walk with young people on their journeys from childhood to adulthood, recognizing their gifts for ministry, their questions about spirituality, and their desire to make a difference in the world. Generally, middle and high school youth meet in the Youth House on Sunday mornings at 10:15 for a discussion of the day’s scripture and how it applies today, led by Director of Youth Ministry Brooks Slater. During the summer, the Youth Forum meets in the Westbury Hall dining room.
Middle School Youth Group (Low Tide) and High School Youth Group (High Tide) meets on Wednesday evenings. Learn more and register here.
Confirmation classes kick off in early October and concludes in early May each year.
According to the Book of Common prayer, Confirmation is a rite in which the candidate, “expresses a mature commitment to Christ, and receives strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.”
We believe it’s important that a candidate – or confirmand – have a complete understanding of what it means to commit their lives to following Christ and his Church. Because of the weight and importance of this decision, the retreat and classes are mandatory for confirmands.
Another important aspect of Confirmation is a mentor that will meet with the student monthly beginning in January 2024. As you consider whether or not to participate, be thinking about an adult in the church that you might want to be paired up with during the process. Mentors are present to serve as a resource for Confirmands, and it’s our prayer that these relationships last well beyond the Confirmation process. If you cannot think of someone to be your mentor, we are happy to pair you with someone.
