About Christ Episcopal Church
Since our inception nearly seventy years ago as a neighborhood church, Christ Church has been bold in our response to God’s call. Growing Christ Church from a small mission station to one of the great Episcopal churches in our country has been the work of a continuing, extraordinary line of clergy, vestry, staff and members, who have helped generations of faithful parishioners find a place in the Body of Christ. Together we have created a church of amazing vitality that has given so many people the opportunity to come to faith, grow in faith, and reach out in faith. The task is and will always be before us to continue building something ever more beautiful, vital, and BOLD for Jesus Christ.
In 2015 the lay and clergy leadership of the church completed a strategic vision and planning process, from which evolved one mission, with three strategic priorities, and a set of four organizational values to guide us along the way.
In order to live into this mission, we must be a community of disciples who intentionally nurture and actively live our faith. Thus our three strategic priorities:
Christ Church will strengthen the discipleship of current members – We will develop and enact a comprehensive discipleship program that meets members where they are in their faith, and offers myriad opportunities to grow and go deeper therein.
Christ Church will throw open our doors and make more and more new pathways into this community of faith, bringing new people into the good things that God is doing here.
- 21st Century Church
Christ Church will be a pacesetting Episcopal Church for the 21st Century Remaining true to the Gospel and to our Episcopal traditions while responding to God’s call to the ever-changing culture and environment of our world.
Alongside our Mission and Strategic Priorities, these Values are important to our shared identity:
We will invite everyone to discover and journey with Christ.
We will be an inclusive community of hope and renewal.
We will nurture disciples who change the world through God’s work.
We will seek to be transformed by God in our own lives and to help transform the lives of those around us as we worship, serve and give together.
