The Magic of Cinderella coming to Christ Church
February 18, 2025
Dear Parishioners,
As we enter the sacred season of Lent in 2025, we are called to a period of deep reflection, spiritual growth, and a renewed closeness to God. This year, our theme is inspired by a profound and timeless concept: Mercy. Whether we are called to extend mercy to others or to humbly receive it ourselves, this journey invites us to be renewed in the likeness of God's boundless mercy.
"Renew me in the likeness of Your mercy"—this powerful invocation will guide us through the weeks leading up to Easter. In embracing this theme, we open our hearts to transformation and allow God's grace to mold us into more compassionate and forgiving beings.
Throughout Lent, we meditate on the stories of Jesus' journey to the cross, where He models the ultimate act of mercy for us. From His time in the wilderness (Luke 4:1-13) to the parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32), we see how mercy is given freely and without condition. How have these stories mirrored your own experience with mercy? Have there been moments in your life when you were forgiven in unexpected ways? Or times when you, inspired by God’s mercy, offered grace to others?
Each Sunday of Lent, we will focus on different aspects of mercy, and you’ll hear from different voices, let the scriptures speak to you. They will illuminate the path towards a deeper understanding and embodiment of mercy in our lives.
I have personally been inspired by the lessons and Rachel Kamps masterpiece of music “Renew me, Have Mercy” which you will hear at each of our worship services.
Mercy is something we all need and are capable to give.
With my prayers for a Holy Lent,
Fr. Andreis
